Based on NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries and BSH guidelines, these tests may be appropriate depending on your symptoms and history.
| Test | Why It May Be Requested |
|---|---|
| Full Blood Count (FBC) | Check for anaemia and macrocytosis (large red cells) |
| Serum B12 | Measure vitamin B12 levels in blood |
| Folate | Often tested alongside B12 as they work together |
| Ferritin | Iron stores - can affect B12 absorption and symptoms |
| Thyroid Function (TSH) | Thyroid issues often coexist with B12 deficiency |
| Vitamin D (if symptomatic) | Often deficient alongside B12 |
